Program Overview

Our medical weight management programs closely monitor and assesses your progress towards better health and well-being as you lose weight. We provide personal weight loss counseling and support, as well as lifestyle education, throughout the program. One-on-one counseling sessions with a physician, nurse practitioner, counselor, and registered dietician. Small group discussions led by a health care professional. Peer support from current and past participants. Educational materials with customized activity plans. Nutritional guidance to suit individual needs.

Adult Program

Nutritional counseling based on your needs and goals as you start your weight loss  journey. The guidelines incorporate sound nutrition and easy to follow lifestyle changes. Complete or Partial OPTIFAST® meal replacement programs that are customized for you. A very low calorie diet protocol along with the use of injectables & supplements. Regular visits to our office ensures that your progress meets your expectations. Use of weight loss medications including Adipex®, Belviq®, Qsymia®, Contrave®, and Saxenda®.

 

Adolescent Program

Weight management teaching based on the National Institute of Health’s “We Can” program and the Endocrine Society’s ‘Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Obesity. Giving adolescents the tools to make the right food and lifestyle choices will enhance independent accountability. Age approved medication to support lifestyle changes may be considered.

Christelle Leiker is a Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is licensed by the Texas board of Nursing in Family Practice, a specialty that allows her to manage the care of male and female patients of all ages.

Christelle was born in Pretoria, South Africa.  She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major English Literature and a minor in Geography from University of Pretoria. Christelle served in the Foreign Office, ending with her posting to the USA as Vice-Consul at the Beverly Hills Consulate.

During her tour of duty in the USA, Christelle met and married her husband Jeff. She immigrated to the United States in 1990 and decided to enter the medical field. In 1994 she completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at the Los Angeles County Medical Center School of Nursing. The couple moved to Allen, Texas and Christelle started work as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care. In 1995 she became House Supervisor at Plano Presbyterian Hospital. After receiving her Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2005, Christelle managed the Bariatrics department and launched the initiative for Plano Presbyterian Hospital to become a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. After working as an RN for sixteen years, Christelle developed a passion for helping people make healthy and live-able lifestyle choices.

The next step for her was a Master’s Degree in Nursing. She fulfilled her dream and graduated with Honors from the University of South Alabama, as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011. Christelle is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; Texas Nurse Practitioner Association; American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons; American Society of Bariatric Physicians and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. She co-authored the following article: Linda Harrington and Christelle Leiker. Dosing of Emergency Cardiovascular Medications in Obese Patients. Bariatric Nursing and Surgical Patient Care. June 2007, 2(2): 131-140.
