Nicola Noel, LPC-a
After attending the Chicago School of Professional Phycology for seven years, Nicola graduated with honours, having received a Bachelor’s degree cum laude in Child and Adolescent Psychology, with a minor in business psychology, as well as continuing to obtain a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Nicola is pursuing a PhD in international psychology, where she plans to impact change globally. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association and Theta Chi Sigma Honors Society. Her formal education and personal life experiences have prepared her for counselling children, adolescents and adults, individually and in group settings.
Her interest in counselling developed through experiences of environmental, social and physical difficulties, which inspired her to make changes that would positively impact the world around her. She hopes that positive change will be achieved locally and globally through acknowledgement, understanding and compassion towards the underserved, underrepresented and disproportionately marginalised populations.
Her unique awareness of diversity enables her to maintain unconditional positive regard, practising acceptance and tolerance at all times and for all people while also advocating for those people and encouraging others to celebrate their differences. She is persistently working toward her lifelong goal to make lasting changes. She remains firmly rooted in an understanding of and adherence to professional ethics, ultimately committed to reducing the suffering of others.
She is a diligent advocate for social justice in the current context and strives to facilitate flourishing growth from each individual in her care so that they might reach their full human potential. Adopting a developmental perspective and providing the most effective evidence-based treatments, Nicola aims her professional life at fostering a sense of empowerment among individuals in their families and community settings to lead healthier, happier lives independently, improving the quality of life for themselves and those around them.
